Welcome to Mini Waewae—we are so glad you found us! Mini Waewae was born right here in New Zealand from a very simple, relatable parenting problem: the constant hunt for baby shoes that actually stay on, support natural foot development, and protect tiny toes without causing a fuss. 

As any parent knows, watching your little one take their very first steps is pure magic. But finding the right footwear for that crucial stage can be incredibly frustrating. Traditional baby shoes are often too stiff, heavy, or clunky for developing feet. On the other hand, regular socks offer zero protection and turn hardwood floors, tiles, and daycare mats into slippery ice rinks. And let’s not even mention how easily they get kicked off and lost at the park!

Like many great ideas, Mini Waewae started at home. As a parent, I found myself constantly putting shoes back on active, wriggling little feet, only for them to be kicked off minutes later. I wanted something that would protect those tiny toes during daycare play and outdoor park trips, but still allow the natural movement needed for healthy development. When I couldn't find the perfect balance of flexibility, safety, and stay-on design locally, I decided to make a move. Mini Waewae is the result of that journey—tested by real toddlers and loved by parents who just want the best for their little ones' first steps.
